Exhibition ‘Revolutionary Patriots (1905-1947)’ inaugurated on 127th Foundation Day of NAI
15 March 2017 Current Affairs: An exhibition entitled “Revolutionary Patriots (1905-1947)” was inaugurated on 11 March 2017 on the occasion of 127th Foundation Day of National Archives of India (NAI).

The exhibition was inaugurated by N.K. Sinha, Secretary, Union Ministry of Culture.

Highlights of the exhibition : The focus of the exhibition is on the tactics and political aim of the revolutionary patriots.The spectacular acts of the revolutionary patriots are on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition is based on original documents and proscribed literature. It is organized with a two-fold objective: to sensitize the younger generation to the sacrifices made by the revolutionaries in their fight for independence from the imperial rule, and to inculcate a sense of archival awareness among the public. The exhibition will remain open for public till 10 April 2017 from 10.30 AM to 5.30 PM during working days only.

National Archives of India : The National Archives of India is a repository of the non-current records of the Government of India.

The NAI holds the records in trust for the use of administrators and scholars.

It was originally established as the Imperial Record Department on 11 March 1891 in Calcutta. At present, it is situated at the intersection of Janpath and Rajpath in New Delhi. Professor G.W. Forrest was the first officer in charge of the department.

It functions as an Attached Office of the Department of Culture under the Union Ministry of Culture.
