Covid-19 Reinfection - ICMR

05 April 2021 Current Affairs:A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Medical Research examined 1,300 cases of people who tested positive for the coronavirus twice. It has been found that 58 out of 1,300 individuals (4.5%) can be classified as possible reinfections. Highlights: Worldwide Cases of Reinfection: ♦ Covid-19 Reinfection case was first confirmed and reported in Hong Kong. ♦ There have also been several cases from the United States and Belgium. ♦ However, even in India, there are several cases of people who have tested positive for the virus multiple times, but not all such cases are considered reinfection. Symptoms in Reinfection: ♦ During this period, most disinfectant patients are asymptomatic and rarely have mild symptoms. ♦ Some people have symptoms such as intermittent fever, cough or shortness of breath Implications of the Reinfection: ♦ Scientists pointed out that permanent immunity cannot be assumed. ♦ Reinfection is likely to be occurring, and it can be determined whether genome analysis can be performed on each infected person. ♦ In the case of re-infection, the use of masks and social isolation will be a new normal.
