Comcast to buy DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion
29 April 2016 Current Affairs: Comcast, the parent company of Universal Pictures has announced that it is going to buy the DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion in cash. The deal will put Comcast in direct competition with Disney.

The Dream Works Animation is best known for animated movies like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar etc andafter take over the company would operate under Comcast’s NBC Universal.

The Comcast Corporation is an American multinational mass media company, which is also the largest broadcasting as well as largest cable company in the world by revenue. The company also produce animation movies like Despicable Me and Minions etc.

It is the second largest pay-TV company after the AT&T-DirecTV acquisition, largest cable TV company and largest home Internet service provider in the United States,and the nation's third largest home telephone service provider. Comcast services U.S. residential and commercial customers in 40 states and the District of Columbia. The company's headquarters are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
