Budget 2016-2017: Rs.55,000 cr for roads and highways

29 February 2016 Current Affairs: While presenting the Union Budget 2016, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today allocated ₹55,000 crore for the development of roads and highways. Total investment in Road Sector would stand at ₹97,000 crore for 2016-17, he added. The NHAI will raise an additional ₹15,000 crore via bonds. Including the given sector, the total outlay for infrastructure stood at ₹2,21,246 crore.
