The Government of Minority Affairs is the central Ministry for the Haj pilgrimage. For Indian pilgrims, the Haj pilgrimage is organized by the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) or by Haj Group Organisers (HGOs), which the Ministry has approved.

Under sub-section (11) of Section 4 of the Haj Committee Act 2022, the Government of India has appointed C Muhammed Faizi as a member of the Haj Committee of India, a statutory body under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, for three years, from 21st April 2022 to 31st March 2025.
