Achanta Sharath Kamal qualifies for Rio 2016
16 April 2016 Current Affairs: Indian professional table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal from Tamil Nadu qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016   in Hong Kong. The 33-year-old, who along with Mouma Das was a step away from booking a berth for the Games, qualified here on Saturday after beating Noshad Alamiyan 4-3 of Iran in the last round on April 16,2016.He joins Manika Batra and Soumyajit Ghosh as the other two players from India to have made it through to the Games in August.  Das, the other contender on the day, couldnt make it through to the Games after losing her match to Ri Myong Sun of North Korea.Sharath’s maiden appearance at the Olympics came during the 2004 Athens Olympics as a 22-year-old.
