The government launched a centralised electronic platform for processing interest subvention on bank loans to beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), called 'Paisa'.
PAiSA, or `Portal for Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention Access’, is a web platform designed and developed by Allahabad Bank, which is the nodal bank.

Scientists from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) in Germany have developed a simple process that can remove persistent pollutants in water using mere sunlight under the most basic conditions.
The researchers rely on electrons moving freely in water, called hydrated electrons, to degrade dissolved pollutants. They conducted a field trial in a meadow and tested their new approach in water contaminated with chloroacetic acid. The pollutants were eliminated in a small sample of water even when there was only a moderate amount of sunshine. Follow-up studies will examine whether the method developed by the chemists in Halle can also be used for large-scale removal of pollutants.
Gujarat has emerged as the top performer of the Centre’s ambitious health financing scheme - Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), which was launched on September 23, promises health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family to over 10 crore poor families.
Over 3.4 lakh beneficiaries have been treated under the scheme since its launch until November 24, according to the National Health Agency.
Tamil Nadu ranked second at 54,273 hospital and Chattisgarh third at 53,180.
According to the report the global average monthly gender pay gap was 21.2% in 2017, while Bangladesh gender pay gap was only 2.2%, the lowest in the world.
Pakistan topped the gap chart by 43.8%.

A Ministerial panel approved a proposal for strategic sale of Air India’s (AI) ground handling subsidiary Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL). The approval comes amid the government working on ways to revive the fortunes of AI, estimated to have a debt burden of more than Rs.50,000 crore, including the sale of non-core assets.
Proceeds from the sale would be used to pay-off part of AI’s debt. The Alternative Mechanism on AI disinvestment has decided to proceed with the strategic sale through divestment of 100% ownership of AIATSL.
Tech Mahindra bagged a Rs.270 crore deal to enable the digital transformation of Coal India Limited (CIL). The deal aimed at enterprise modernization and is to span a five-year period.
In the first of the project, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) would be implemented in CIL and its two subsidiaries, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited and Western Coalfields Limited. It also includes the supply and implementation of the hospital information management system across all eight subsidiaries of CIL, covering 21 hospitals.
The primary objective of setting up an integrated ERP system in CIL and its subsidiaries is to deploy state-of-the-art information technology system, which can provide all necessary information based on real-time data and help the management in taking quick and timely decisions to achieve desired results.
The Reserve Bank of India is to pump in more liquidity in December by infusing Rs.40,000 crore into the system through Open Market Operations (OMOs).
The Reserve Bank will officially give the details about the auction dates for the OMOs in due course. However, it added that this OMO amount is indicative with the RBI retaining the flexibility to change it, depending on the evolving liquidity and market conditions.
RBI had announced to inject Rs.40,000 crore into the system in November. It has already infused Rs.30,000 crore into the system while the balance Rs.10,000 crore will be pumped in through the auction on 29th November.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are to meet in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the sidelines of the G20 summit. The bilateral meeting between the two leaders will cover issues of mutual interest. It was decided at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg that both the leaders will meet frequently and both the countries were quite happy in incorporating it in their schedules.
The announcement about the meeting came in the backdrop of a letter from Congress MP Ninong Ering of Arunachal Pradesh, which urged the Prime Minister to discuss the issues relevant to the State with the Chinese President.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has planned to launch HysIS, the country's first hyperspectral imaging satellite for advanced earth observation, on 29th November from Sriharikota.
A lowdown of the payload:
♦ PSLV-C43 mission will launch 31 satellite in total into 2 orbits
♦ Slated to last just under 2 hours, it will be ISRO's 3rd longest mission
♦ 30 co-passengers include a microsatellite (100-kg class) and 29 nanosatellites (under 10 kg). They are from United States of America (23), Australia, Canada, Columbia, Finland, Malaysia, Netherlands and Spain (one each satellite)
♦ The foreign satellites together weigh around 261 kg
♦ Their launches were booked with ISRO's arm Antrix Corporation
The Department of Heavy Industry has proposed a subsidy of ₹13 crore to promote hybrid cars in India.
The move follows lobbying by automobile manufacturers including Toyota, Maruti Suzuki and Honda.
The incentives have been sought by the department for potential buyers of 10,000 hybrid cars fitted with lithium-ion batteries of 0.5-2 kilowatt-hour (kWh) in a meeting with the committee for the second phase of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid vehicles (FAME) scheme.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel batted for the autonomy of the institution in strong terms in his deposition before the Parliamentary Panel on Finance. He made a presentation on the impact of demonetization and the status of non-performing assets in the banking sector.
Points stressed by RBI Governor:
♦ Autonomy over depositors' interest is non-negotiable
♦ Monetary policy should be the exclusive domain of RBI
♦ Maintaining RBI's reserves is critical to keeping the country's AAA rating
♦ Obligated to follow Basel III norms as the government has committed to G20 on them
♦ Will give written answers to all the questions within 10-15 days
According to an annual report named “Global Wage Report 2018/19: What Lies behind Gender pay gaps”, released by International Labour Organisation (ILO), India recorded the highest average real wage growth in South Asia during 2008-17.
The Global wage growth in 2017 was not only lower than in 2016, but fell to its lowest growth rate since 2008.
In emerging and developing countries of the G20, real wage growth has fluctuated in recent years, rising from 2.9 percent in 2015 to 4.9 percent in 2016, and then falling back to 4.3 percent in 2017.
The countries with the lowest levels of wage inequality are found among the high-income group, whereas countries with the highest levels of wage inequality are found in the low- and middle-income groups.
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, launched the logo and brochure of Logix India 2019 in New Delhi.
A 3-day Logix India 2019 is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from 31st January to 2nd February 2019.
It will be organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) to improve logistics cost effectiveness and operational efficiencies for India’s global trade.
Odisha government released lexicons of 21 tribal languages for multilingual education (MLE) purposes for elementary schools in tribal-dominated districts.
The main aim is to bring back the tribal languages in circulation and prevent them from vanishing.
This initiative has been prepared by the Special Development council which will further enhance proficiency in tribal languages.
Thus, this step towards tribal proficiency will help in the better connection between the government functionaries and the tribal communities.
Reserve Bank of India relaxed norms for External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) by reducing the mandatory hedging provision to 70% from the current 100%.
The relaxed norms will apply to the ECBs with a maturity period between 3 and 5 years.
