A messaging app aimed at reducing rumor-mongering and ensuring complete data privacy was launched by former police officer Sachin Waze in Mumbai.
The app, Direct Baat, is available on Android and is being developed for other platforms. Mr. Waze said the app does not store any data of the user except for registration details, which eliminates the scope of user data being leaked owing to external or internal breaches.
Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district Collector T.N. Hariharan released the potential linked credit plan prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the district. The plan envisages a 6.61% hike in loans to be disbursed by banks during the next financial year (2019-20). The potential credit outlay estimated is Rs.19, 448 crore for 2019-20.

Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy launched mobile banks to disburse interest-free loans to street vendors and small traders at the AMPC Market in Yeshwantpur. The Centre approved a proposal making jute packaging mandatory for all food grains. The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Researchers, headed by IIT Professor Shiv Govind Singh, at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, developed a smartphone-based system to detect adulteration in milk.
