French beauty giant L'Oréal has appointed Amit Jain as its new India Managing Director, making him the first Indian to lead its operations in the country. He succeeds Jean-Christophe Letellier who, after five years in the role, will take up a new position within L'Oréal Group. Jain has 30 years of experience with companies such as Coca-Cola, Viacom and AkzoNobel.

The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), a premier financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector, in joint venture with TransUnion CIBIL, a Credit Information Company, has released the second edition of MSME Pulse, a quarterly report on MSME sector. The total on-balance sheet commercial lending exposure in India stood at Rs.54.2 lakh crores, as of March 2018 with Micro and SME segment constituting Rs.12.6 lakh crores, which contributes to ~23% of commercial credit outstanding. High growth in New-to-credit (NTC) showed the positive impact of GST.

The housing loan limits for eligibility under priority sector lending will be revised to Rs 35 lakh in metropolitan centres Rs 28 lakh earlier (with population of ten lakh and above), and to Rs 25 lakh from Rs 20 lakh earlier in other centres, provided the overall cost of the dwelling unit in the metropolitan centre and at other centres does not exceed Rs 45 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, respectively. The existing limit for family income of Rs 2 lakh per annum for loans to housing projects for home construction economically weaker sections and low income groups, is revised to Rs 3 lakh per annum and Rs 6 lakh per annum respectively in alignment with the income criteria specified under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the continuation of the Three Year Action Plan (2017-2020) of the scheme for Agricultural Education Division and ICAR Institutes with an outlay of Rs.2225.46 crore. It comprises of: "Strengthening and Development of Higher Agricultural Education in India - Rs. Rs.2050.00 crore; ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) - Rs. 24.25 crore and ICAR - Central Institute of Women in Agriculture (CIWA) including All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science (AICRP-HS) - Rs.151.21 crore.

Microsoft announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Bonsai, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in San Francisco, to boost its AI and machine learning capabilities. Based in Berkeley, California, Bonsai was founded in 2014 and has around 42 employees.

CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia was present at the venue along with Yoga guru Ramdev, who conducted the yoga session. Earlier, 55,000 people of Mysore held the record of the largest crowd performing yoga.
