    Francois Laborde conferred Frances highest civilian award

    Father Francois Laborde, a 92-year-old priest, was conferred the Légion d’Honneur (Legion of Honour) of France.
    This is the highest civilian award.
    The award is to recognize his work for specially-abled children.
    He is the third person from the state to have been awarded the Legion of Honor after film maestro Satyajit Ray and actor Soumitra Chatterjee.

    Central Board of Direct Taxes says only 50 percent of PAN linked to Aadhaar

    Central Board of Direct Taxes Chairman Sushil Chandra said that with less than two months to go for the deadline to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Aadhaar, only a little more than half of PAN holders have linked them. Mr. Chandra was speaking at an Assocham event, in New Delhi. Only 23 crore of the total 42 crore PAN holders has linked them.

    RBI resuced the policy repo rate by 6.25 percent

    The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reduced the policy repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25% in a bid to revive economic growth as it projected retail inflation to remain below its target of 4% for the next 12 months.

    RBI imposed Rs.1 crore penalty on SBI

    The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a fine of Rs.1 crore penalty State Bank of India (SBI). This penalty was levied as the lender violated the RBI norms.
