How to apply for HDFC bank credit card online?

The application process for an HDFC bank credit card through online is very easy when compared to offline mode. Many users prefer this online process because it can be done from where the user is seated. The online portal is designed in such a way that the applicant does not find any kind of difficulty during the process. The applicant should visit the official website of HDFC bank and follow the step by step process

Step 1: Select the credit card you wish to apply for

What is the Eligibility Criteria to avail an HDFC Credit Card?

Netbanking is an electronic payment system of HDFC bank which helps the customers to conduct a range of financial transactions through HDFC website. To access net banking login facility the user must have a customer ID, password and other credentials for customer verification. To experience the convenience HDFC bank has provided to all its credit card customers, the applicant has to be registered to HDFC credit card login.
  1. For the existing customers who already have an HDFC credit card login account can simply link your HDFC bank credit card to their existing account instead of creating a new one.
Step 1: Login using the customer ID and IPIN
Step 2: From the menu, click on ‘Cards’ and then choose ‘Credit Cards’
Step 3: From the left side menu, click on ‘Register New Card’
Step 4: The applicant will be prompted to enter the credit card number, card expiry date, and PIN, enter the same and click ‘Submit’
  2. For existing HDFC customers without HDFC credit card login account need to register for the account first and then link their card to it. The customer can register to HDFC net banking either online, nearest ATM, branch office or even through phone banking.
  3. For new HDFC customers who have availed a credit card but do not have an HDFC credit card login account need to register for an HDFC credit card net banking service. The following steps will help the customer to create an HDFC credit card login account:
Step 1: Visit the official website of HDFC bank
Step 2: From the main menu choose ‘Ways to bank > Bank Online > Credit Card Netbanking’
Step 3: Click on the ‘Register for Credit Card  Netbanking’

Hotlist or block HDFC credit card using your HDFC credit card login account: Do not panic when your credit card is lost or stolen. You can log in to your account and block your card by yourself instead of approaching the customer care. Follow the steps to block your card using your net banking account:

  • Choose ‘Credit card > Hotlisting’
  • Choose the card you wish to block
  • Mention the reason, either lost or stolen
  • Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for card reissuance and click ‘Submit’

Your card will be blocked immediately and you will receive a new card within 7-10 working days to the registered postal address. A card issuance of Rs.100 will be charged for this service. Please note that this service is available only for lost or stolen cards and not for damaged or non-working cards. If you need assistance for the same, please contact HDFC customer care.
Apply for HDFC Insta Loan through HDFC credit card login account: The HDFC Insta Loan is an instant loan facility that can be availed instantly within the eligible credit limit of the card. Once applied, the loan will be approved and the amount will be credited to the savings account. This facility can be availed only by eligible customers and it requires no documentation. The loan repayment can be done in equated monthly installments (EMIs) which include principal plus interest. You can apply for HDFC Insta loan by logging in to your account and following the instructions given below.

  • From left side menu, select ‘Credit Card > Insta Loan’
  • Select the credit card and click ‘Continue’
  • Enter the required loan amount which is within the available limit on the card and select the repayment tenure and confirm.

You will be intimated about the acknowledgment of the approval or rejection of the loan amount on the screen.
Change HDFC Credit Card ATM PIN through HDFC credit card login account: Don’t worry if you forget your ATM PIN. You can raise a request for a new PIN using your credit card internet banking account. You just have to log in to your account and follow this procedure:

  • Click ‘Credit card > Credit card PIN’
  • Choose Credit card from the drop-down menu and click ‘Continue’
  • On completing this successfully, a message will appear creating a new PIN for your credit card

You will soon receive your credit card PIN at your registered address.
Increase your credit limit or apply for a card upgrade using your HDFC credit card login account: If you think your current credit limit is not sufficient, you can apply for credit limit enhancement. However, not all customers are eligible to avail this facility. You can check your net banking account whether your card is eligible or not for this facility and raise a request for the same. To check whether your card is eligible, follow this procedure

  • Login to your net banking account
  • From the left side menu, click ‘Credit card > Card upgrade with Enhancement’
  • Choose the card and click ‘Continue’

You will find a pop-up message if the card is eligible. The new credit card name along with the eligible credit limit will be displayed. You can go through the features and benefits of the new credit card and finalize the upgrade. Once you finalize, you will receive your new credit card at your registered postal address within 7-10 working days. All the transactions, dues, reward points and other details from your old card will be transferred to your new card. You will not receive a new card in case of only limit enhancement. You can use the same card with the enhanced credit limit.
Apply for HDFC Smart EMI through HDFC credit card login account: You can convert the purchases made into EMIs using HDFC Smart EMI facility. This is available only for selected HDFC customers which allows them to convert purchases above Rs.2,500 into EMIs. Once the details are provided, the transaction will get instantly converted into EMI and the first EMI will be added to next billing cycle. Based on the selected tenure the interest will be added to the EMIs. However, a one-time processing fee will be charged to avail this facility.

#2. HDFC Credit Card Payment

Most of the users pay their bills through online since it is user-friendly and easy to access. HDFC credit card bill will be generated every month based on the transactions made throughout the month made by the user. The user will have to make payments before the due date to avoid penalties. There are numerous ways through which HDFC bank customers can pay their HDFC bank credit card bills
Online:

  1. HDFC Netbanking: Once you create a net banking account, you will be able to make your HDFC credit card payment in a few clicks. To use a net banking account facility, HDFC savings, and current account holders will have to register. Please note that only after registration, online payments can be done by users. Using the net banking account, you can view up to last six months credit card statement. You can also use your net banking account for accessing your billed and unbilled transactions, to show credit limit, due dates, reward points or any outstanding amount. HDFC bank users can use their net banking facility to even hotlist or block their cards in case of theft or misplacement. You can also request a replacement through net banking with an additional charging fee of Rs. 100/-
  2. HDFC Mobile banking app: HDFC credit card payment can be done using HDFC mobile banking application also. To log in to mobile banking, you need to install the HDFC mobile app and enter your customer ID, access the credit card tab and choose the option ‘Credit Card Payment’. HDFC Bank savings account can be used here to make payments. HDFC Bank offers enhanced security for all credit card accounts on the mobile application through 128-bit SSL protection.
  3. ATM Funds Transfer: HDFC credit card payments can be easily done at an HDFC bank ATM across the country by customers. This service can be availed by HDFC bank customers 24/7. The outstanding amount available on an HDFC Bank credit card can be transferred from a savings account or a current account to the customer’s credit card account.
  4. Autopay: HDFC credit card payments can be done by HDFC Bank customers by using the Autopay option to set standing instructions for auto debits on their HDFC Bank accounts. The total monthly outstanding amount or the minimum amount due on the HDFC Bank credit card can be repaid using the Autopay facility. The HDFC Bank savings account should be held by a single customer or as a joint account, with an ‘either’ or 'any' signing mandate
 
Non-HDFC bank accounts:
 
  • Non-HDFC Bank Netbanking: HDFC Bank credit card bills can be paid by customers holding a savings account with other banks by using net banking facility. Users have to register for this service and log in to net banking to make payments.
    Procedure: When a customer initiates payment, certain details have to provided like HDFC bank credit card number, email address and the outstanding amount. After this, the customer has to select the required net banker and then click on Pay. This Non-HDFC Bank NetBanking platform has been powered by BillDesk, through which the user will be directed to the payment interface of the chosen net banker.
    By entering authentication details like username and password, the credit card bill payment has to be confirmed by the user. As soon as the payment confirmation has been done, the customer’s bank account will get debited with the required amount.
    An online transaction confirmation will be given to the customer from HDFC bank along with the Transaction reference number. Additionally, an email will also be sent to the customer’s mail ID as an acknowledgement of the payment.
  • NEFT: HDFC bank also provides the facility to its customers by allowing them to pay the credit card bill through NEFT from other bank accounts. The customer just have to enter the card number in the place of the account number and use IFSC code HDFC0000128
  • Visa Money Transfer: Using the HDFC Bank’s VISA CardPay service customers can make payments towards any other bank’s Visa credit card. Multiple credit card bills can be paid through this service. Customers need to log in through NetBanking, select ‘Third Party Transfer’, choose Visa CardPay as the option and make the transfer. The maximum transaction amount permitted for a Visa CardPay transaction is Rs 49,999. HDFC Bank charges a fee of Rs. 5 for each Visa CardPay transaction.
 
Offline mode of payment:
 
  • Pay by cheque: The users can also deposit a cheque payable to HDFC bank card A/C (credit card number to be mentioned) at any of HDFC branch or ATM dropbox.
  • Cash payment: The customer can visit the nearest HDFC bank branch and pay the bill at the counter with a processing fee of Rs.100.

#3. How to check HDFC Credit Card status?

The application status can be checked easily through online. An alternate way of checking HDFC credit card application status can be done by contacting the customer care. Since that is a little painful process for most of the customers, HDFC has made it tension free by allowing the customers to check it through online. The user has to visit the official portal of HDFC bank. The status can be checked using the following:
ONLINE:
The credit card application reference number and application form number: The status of the credit card application can be checked using the 16 digit reference number sent to the user through SMS. The application form number needs to be noted down before submitting the form to the bank. The status can also be checked by using the user’s date of birth mentioned in the application form. Follow the steps mentioned below to check your application status with the help of application form number:

  • Visit HDFC bank’s official website
  • Now enter details in the respective boxes displayed on the webpage.
  • Enter the mobile number mentioned in the application form along with the captcha.
  • Click ‘Submit’
Through Mobile number: The user can visit the official portal of HDFC bank and enter his mobile number in the provided space post which an OTP will be sent to the user’s registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on ‘Submit’
Through AirWay Bill number: In HDFC bank portal, the user has to enter the respective AirWay Bill number and click ‘Submit’
Follow the steps below to check the status online:
  • Visit HDFC bank’s official website
  • Under ‘Products’ tab, you will find ‘Credit Cards’
  • Once you visit the credit cards page, click on ‘Track your Credit Card Application Status’ link available under ‘Important links’ tab
  • It will direct you to a new webpage where you will find blank columns to fill either one of above-mentioned reference numbers or mobile number.
  • Fill the required details and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Once you submit all the details you will receive the status of your HDFC credit card application. Most of the time, the statuses will be like, ‘in process, dispatched, disapproved, on hold or no records found’. Based on the status you can take your call.
If the status shows ‘In process’, then the bank is still reviewing your application and it will take a few more days to ship your credit card.
If the status says ‘Dispatch’, you would have received a message by then with the Airmail number of the booked shipment carrying your credit card. If you haven’t received any message, then you will probably receive it within the next 1 or 2 days. If it gets delayed, you can feel free to call the HDFC customer care.
If your application is on hold, the bank may contact you via SMS or email asking you for some missing or additional details or about any other issue with your application. Once the issues are resolved, they will resume the card processing.
If the status says ‘No Records Found’, then the details you entered is wrong or there is some other issue. If the details you entered are accurate and still you receive the same message then you can call the HDFC bank customer care.
 
OFFLINE:
When you do not have an active internet connection, you can simply contact the HDFC bank customer care to know about your application status. Make sure you have the application reference number and the application form number ready as you may be asked for the same during the call to let you know about the status of your application. Another way to check your application status is to visit the nearest HDFC bank. Provide the application reference number and application form number to the bank personnel and he/she will help you find out the status of your application.
