TNEA 2018

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) entrance exam conducted by Anna University for engineering students every year for the admission of undergraduate level engineering courses and colleges of the state. Every year around 2 lakh students of TamilNadu got placed in the topmost engineering colleges. The rank list will be released in online mode and certificate verification will be carried out. TNEA Application Details 2018

TNEA application form 2018 will be issued by Anna university. For admission of new candidates in the university and other state, candidates have to download the application form and fill in the required details and they have to submit their form online and submit the hard copy of the form to the desired center address. Candidates who fail to submit the form within the stipulated time will not be permitted for the admission process which is carried out by Anna University. How to fill TNEA Application Form 2018?

TNEA application form should be filled in online mode only. Candidates have to apply from the official link and have to follow the given steps and have to complete the entire registration process.
  • Candidates can apply from the official link of TNEA Exam TNEA Application Form.
  • The application form of TNEA 2018 was available from May 3 till June 2 in online mode. 
  • After filling the entire online registration of TNEA 2018 application form, candidates should take a print out of the filled application form and take it to the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) for verification along with the original documents after payment of the application fee of Rs 500 (General). SC/ST/SA candidates had to pay Rs 250. 
  • While filling the application form of TNEA 2018, candidates should enter the correct information about 
  • The TNEA application form 2018 included fields like education details and personal details. 
  • A candidate who are willing to opt for sports category, have to submit the necessary documents in the university.
  • While uploading the required documents the candidate should confirm the prescribed format.

Application for Other State Candidates

  • The registration process for other state candidates opened in online mode on June 20.
  • The last date to submit the completed application was July 7.
  • The application number that was generated at the time of application is the registration number for TNEA Admission 2018.
  • The application fee for B.E/B/Tech and also for B.Arch was Rs. 500.
  • However, for applying to both B.E/B. Tech and B.Arch programmes, the fee was Rs. 1000. Also, payments made only through online mode were accepted.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2018

Candidates who are applying for the TNEA Exam have to fulfill the basic requirements which are mentioned by Anna University.TNEA eligibility criteria for Tamilnadu and other state candidates are based on criteria and if the candidates did not satisfy the criteria they will be disqualified from the entire examination process.
  • Candidates who have completed schooling or equivalent examination from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply but have to enclose a copy of their nativity certificate only in electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate.
  • If the candidate’s parents are central government employees they are eligible to apply for admission only if they provide their parent's details or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years at the time of application submission. The same certificate has to be produced by enclosing a certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian in that effect.
  • If the candidates have studied in Tamil Nadu and are Sri Lankan Tamil refugee they have to apply for admission and they will be considered under open competition meanwhile they have to produce their identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar. 
  • If the candidates who have not registered in the refugee camp have to submit a copy of their passport, visa, and letter registered with the police station.

TNEA Qualifying Exam 2018

For TNEA Qualifying Exam, the candidates have to pass the respective subjects with the corresponding minimum percentage of marks such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM).In the given below table the category wise marks are specified and the candidates have to secure the marks for the qualifying level.

What is the procedure for Qualifying Exam in the case of the selection of vocational subjects?

There are vocational subjects which are being added by the Anna University for B.E/ B.Tech courses. The subjects are

  • Textile Technology

TNEA 2018 Eligibility Criteria for other state candidates:

Candidates who apply from the other-state quota that is candidates who are Indian citizens but does not belong to Tamil Nadu can apply for TNEA Exam but they need to score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in PCM that is Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in HSc or equivalent exam.If there is any grievances for the candidates can contact the office at the Secretary, TNEA at Anna University, Chennai - 600025.

TNEA Cut off 2018

TNEA Cut off are generally declared by the Anna University. Actually this year still TNEA cut off are not officially released. Generally cut off will have slight variations when compared with last year marks and finally, the candidates have to get the desired cut off marks in order to select their desired colleges to form the list of Anna university listed colleges. The cut off will be prepared by Anna university mainly based on the last year cut off, number of candidates applied for admission and availability of seats.

TNEA Counselling 2018

TNEA counseling conducted depending upon the merit of the candidate’s marks. Candidates can select the college and their respective courses depending upon the availability of seats at that time of counseling.

  • Candidates are grouped as per merit list into rounds. Counseling will be held for each group round wise.
  • The list of eligible applicants for each round will be published by Anna University.
  • Such applicants are required to pay Rs.5000 (Rs. 1,000 for SC/SCA/ST) as an initial deposit through online mode. 
  • Payment can be made through demand draft. After payment, candidates must fill in their choices of courses and colleges in the order of their preference within three days.
  • Seat allotment is announced depending upon the merit list and preference of choices entered by the candidates. In order to check the provisional allotment, candidates have to log in and confirm their allotment within the next two days.
  • Candidates who did not get any seat can apply to participate in the next round. 
  • The final allotment will be announced after consideration of the options which are obtained from the candidates.
  • Candidates have to undergo a medical test before they join their selected or allocated engineering college.
  • After the final allotment is over the candidates are required to announce to their allotted colleges within the stipulated time mentioned by the University.

TNEA Facilitation Centres

TNEA board will set up facilitation centers across all districts in TamilNadu to give support to all the candidates who are applying for the counseling. The TamilNadu Facilitation Centres (TFCs) will provide internet-enabled computer facilities for all applicants at free of cost. Candidates can go to the TFCs to complete the different stages like registration of applications, providing college preferences and collection of allotment orders. For allocation of seats under other-state quota, the table showing the number of seats reserved for different regions will be tabulated. Candidates can make use of facilitation centers to apply for TNEA counseling

TNEA Seat Allotment 2018 

TNEA Seat Allotment mainly depends on cut off marks obtained by the candidates and the preference of the candidates with the colleges and the corresponding courses will be decided by the candidates. During the process of counseling, candidates will choose their colleges and branches of engineering and they will be awarded a seat in TNEA on the basis of their merit, choice filling and the reservation at the time of counseling. Candidates have to produce their original certificates at the time of counseling at the facilitation center in their district and pay the prescribed admission fee online.SMS and email alerts will be sent to the candidates on each stage of counseling.

TNEA Counselling Schedule 2018

TNEA counseling schedule of Tamil Nadu will be released in the official website. Every year candidates can fill their choices from July 25, 2018, onwards and they can take time to decide their choices of colleges and relevant courses by July 27. The choices can be entered by clicking on 'Add Choice' in the page and candidate can choose any of the following options such as Add by College Code, Add by College Name, Add by Branch Name, Add by District Name. The branches with available seats will be visible after the filling of application. Candidates can select a branch of their interest and add or insert it to their choices. To participate in TNEA 2018 counseling in online mode, candidates had to make the payment for round 1 using DDs from July 21 till July 24. The payment for TNEA had to be made at the nearest TFCs. The document verification process was conducted at the TNEA facilitation centers from June 8, 2018 (9 am onwards). Anna University is conducting TNEA counseling 2018 in online mode for all the eligible candidates on the basis of the marks obtained in their qualifying exam. Seats will be allocated to the candidates according to their merit list.

What is TNEA 2018 Counselling for Special Cases?

TNEA counseling 2018 for special cases the particular candidates have to produce discharge certificates and EX- Serviceman of their parents, during the verification process. Candidates have to check their ranks in their online login after Anna University announces the results. Candidates seeking admission under special reservation categories are eligible for admission under general counseling. As per the rank and category of the candidates the college and the branch will be provisionally allotted through the online counseling.
