RBI follows a separate recruitment process for recruiting staffs for job vacancies in RBI, and recruitment is not done by any external firm. The Exam is conducted every year and the vacancies are less when compared to other banks. RBI Grade B Officer for Department of Economics and Policy Research and Department of Statistics and Information Management needs specific qualification and the pattern followed for these two posts is different from General Officer post. RBI Grade B Exam Pattern 2018 for General Officer post:
Candidates who applied for RBI Grade B - General Officer post will have three phases. Candidates shortlisted in Phase I will have Phase II Exam (Paper I, II, and III) and candidates getting shortlisted in Phase II will be called for Phase III/Interview based on the no. of vacancies. The number of candidates to be called for the interview will be decided by the Board. Final Score will be arrived based on the Marks scored in Phase II and Interview. RBI Grade B Exam Pattern 2018 for General Officer Phase I:
RBI Grade B General - Phase I is the basic screening process for short listing candidates to the next stage. Phase I has four sections i.e. General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. The questions will be of Objective type with 200 questions. The time duration will be 2 hours. Candidates are required to secure minimum qualifying marks in each section and also an overall score to be shortlisted for Phase II.

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern 2018 for General Officer Phase II:
RBI Grade B General - Phase II Exam is conducted for candidates who got shortlisted in Phase I. There will be three Papers in Phase II i.e. Paper I, II, and III, and will be conducted in shifts. Candidates should appear for all shifts. All question papers will be set bilingual in Hindi and English except the test of English section. Find below the Exam structure of Phase II Exam.

Roll No. of the candidates shortlisted for interview will be published by RBI and interview call letters will be sent on registered email ID. Interview will be of 50 marks. Candidate may opt for interview either in Hindi or English. Final Selection will be through merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in Phase-II examination and Interview.

General Awareness: Banking & Financial Awareness - Banking terms, Current rates (Bank rate, repo rate, reverse repo rate), RBI, Fiscal-Monetory Policies, Social Functions of Bank, Economic News - Indian and International Economy, Finance, shares, various schemes of Government, Monetary policies, Important guidelines, Financial & Economics News, Economics terms, etc.
English: Reading Comprehension (Based on Economy), Cloze Test, Phrase Replacement/Error Spotting, Para Completion, Para Jumbles, etc.

RBI Grade B Syllabus 2018 for DEPR/DSIM:
RBI follows a different pattern of recruitment process for RBI Grade B Officer - Department of Economics and Policy Research (DEPR).- Paper-I will be Objective type on Economics conducted online and comprise multiple choice questions.
- Paper-II (Economics) will be a descriptive type pen/paper based examination where the questions will be displayed on computer screen.
- Paper-III (English) will be of descriptive type where the candidates will be expected to type out answers on a computer.
RBI Grade B Officer - Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM) follows the same pattern as DEPR but with different syllabus (on Statistics) which is related to the post. Standard of papers would be that of Master's Degree examination of any Central University in India.
