RBI Assistant Exam Pattern

Like any other banking sector, RBI also conducts qualifying exams to recruit candidates for its job vacancies. The exams for RBI Assistant post is one such exam with around 600 vacancies. RBI Assistant exam is conducted every year and follows a pattern of Online Examination i.e. Prelims and Mains followed by Language Proficiency Test (LPT). RBI felt the importance of candidate's knowledge on Regional Language and decided to go with LPT. Also, in line with the instructions issued by Government of India, candidates will not be having Interview/Final Interview. For further details on Exam pattern and LPT, follow the article.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern - Preliminary Exam

RBI Assistant Preliminary Exam is the first stage of screening process for short listing candidates to next level of selection process. The exam will be conducted in Online mode. Preliminary exam has three sections i.e. English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability with overall marks of 100. The time duration will be 1 hour. Candidates should get minimum qualifying score/cut off score both sectional and overall to be qualified in the Preliminary stage of exam.  As negative marking, 1/4th mark will be deduced for each wrong answer. RBI Assistant Exam Pattern - Mains Exam

Candidates clearing the Preliminary exam will proceed with the next stage of recruitment process i.e. Mains Exam. This level further scrutinizes the competent candidates. It has five sections i.e., Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge with an overall score of 200. The time duration for the Exam is 2 hours. There will be negative marking and 1/4th mark will be deduced for each wrong answer.

Each candidate should secure a minimum score/cut off score both sectional and overall in Online Main examination to be considered shortlisted for the next stage. Except Test of English Language, the online test will be set bilingually i.e. English and Hindi. Only candidates getting short listed in Main Exam will be called for Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The Roll Number of candidates clearing the Main Exam will be published by RBI and an official notification is released regarding LPT.

Biometric Data (Capturing and Verification)

RBI has decided to capture the Biometric Data and photograph of candidates on the day of the Main Exam for candidates who got shortlisted in Preliminary Exam and appearing for the Main Exam. It is done only for candidates who are taking up the Main Exam. The decision by the Biometric Data verification authority shall be final and binding with regard to the status (matched or mismatched/unmatched). Any mismatch with biometric data then candidature is plainly rejected. Candidates should be careful in doing the biometric data verification and are asked to strictly follow the instructions.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern - Language Proficiency Test

Candidates who are provisionally selected are expected to be placed in the public interface counters. Thus, RBI decided to have Language Proficiency Test (LPT) for the selected candidates. Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Understanding skills of the candidate on the local language will be tested in LPT. Due to this change in process, the final selection will now be based on the marks obtained in Main Exam, Performance in LPT, Reservation requirements, Medical fitness, and Submission of all necessary acceptable documentary evidence.

Admit Card

RBI releases Admit Card for each stage of Online Examination for candidates eligible to take up the Exam and is expected to be released two weeks prior to the Exams. Candidates will be given intimation via email/SMS for downloading Admit Card once it is released by RBI. Candidates can download the Admit Card using
  • Registration Number/Roll Number
  • Password/Date of Birth
