RRB ALP, Technician 2018 Exam for Kerala Candidates is now fixed on 4th September 2018:

As per the official notification released on August 23, 2018 by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) of Indian Railways on its official site www.rrbahmedabad.gov.in, The RRB ALP, Technician 2018 1st Stage CBT of those (i) candidates whose examination had been cancelled on 9th August 2018, (ii) Candidates of Kerala whose examination on 17th, 20th & 21st August 2018 had been postponed and (iii) eligible candidates whose scheduling has not yet been released is now fixed on 4th September 2018.

RRB ALP, Technician 4th September Exam Admit Card/E call letter will be available for download from 31st August 2018. SMS and email regarding exam city, date and shift have been sent to all the above candidates. Free travel facility will be available for all the candidates whose examination was cancelled on 9th August 2018.

RRB ALP, Technician 2018 Exams Postponed in Kerala:

Considering the severe flood situation in Kerala, Indian Railways has postponed the RRB ALP, Technician 2018 Exams for candidates who have been allotted exam centre in Kerala and for the residents of the State. RRB ALP, Technician 2018 ( CEN 01/2018) first stage CBT Exams scheduled to be held on August 20 and 21, in all the three shifts, have been cancelled in Kerala (Including for Kerala resident candidates who have allotted with centers outside Kerala). RRB Thiruvananthapuram will soon publish the Revised exam city, date and shift for those candidates. Candidates who undertake RRB ALP and Technician 2018 Exams in Kerala, would soon download their fresh e Call letter from the official website rrbthiruvananthapuram.gov.in, and the same will be updated here immediately after official announcement.

RRB ALP, Technician 2018 CBT Exam City, Date Intimation Link Activated:

On July 26, 2018, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has activated the official link to check the Exam City and Exam Date for Candidates who appears in RRB ALP, Technician 2018 First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), which is scheduled to be held on August 9, 2018. RRB ALP, Technician 2018 Exam Pattern Announced, Mock Test Link for CBT Activated:

On July 25, 2018, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has published the official notification on Section wise marks for RRB ALP & Technicians Posts 2018 First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), which is going to be held on August 9, 2018. RRB ALP, Technician 2018 CBT exam will consists of 75 objective type questions from 4 sections namely, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science and General awareness and Current Affairs. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer chosen by the candidate. The detailed section wise distribution of questions and marks is tabulated below. The Total Duration of CBT is 60 minutes (80 minutes for eligible PWD candidates accompanied with scribe). RRB ALP and Technician posts CBT exam 2018 Admit Card will be available to download at least 4 days prior to the CBT Exam date, ie., on August 5, 2018.

RRB ALP, Technician 2018 Exam Date Announced:

On July 21, 2018, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the official notification on exam dates for the recruitment of Group C ALP and Technicians (CEN 01/2018)  posts on its official website indianrailways.gov.in. The first stage of Computer-Based Test (CBT) for RRB Group C ALP and Technician will be conducted from August 9. Informed about exam date, city and session for each candidate will be made available by July 26, 2018. RRB Group C ALP and Technician Admit Card for CBT will be available four days prior to the date of CBT of the candidate. RRB Group C ALP and Technician  Computer based Test is conducted in 15 different languages includes Hindi, English, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Assamese, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu to ensure opportunities for candidates across India and 75 objective type questions are asked from four sections - Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness. In this RRB Group C ALP and Technician CBT exam, candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the four sections to qualify. The RRB ALP 2018 admit card for first stage CBT will be issued to candidates from August 5, 2018. The mock test of RRB ALP will be released on July 26, 2018.

RRB GROUP D Application Status 2018 Announced:

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has opened the facility for checking the application status for RRB Group D Recruitment 2018 for CEN 01/2018 and CEN 02/2018, for about 1.5 crores applicants. Candidates who have been applied for RRB Group D 2018 recruitment, can now check whether their application forms have been accepted by visiting the official website of the Board indianrailways.gov.in and then choosing their respective RRB. The Last Date for checking the RRB GROUP D 2018 Application Status is July 20, 2018. Due to large number of applications received, various process of RRB GROUP D 2018 Examination was delayed, including the announcement of application status. RRB will also release a list of candidates whose application form for RRB Group D 2018 Exam has been rejected, which will be available at the official website in pdf format. It is expected that the RRB Group D Admit Card 2018 will be available by last week of July. RRB Group D 2018 exam is scheduled to be conducted on August 12, 18, 26 and September 9, 16, 2018. RRB Group D Admit Card 2018 will be issued only for the candidates, whose application form has been accepted. RRB Railway Group D 2018 Exam Dates Announced:

Recently, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced the Exam Dates for Railway Group D 2018 Computer Based Aptitude Tests for CEN 01/2018 and CEN 02/2018 recruitment. RRB Group D 2018 exam will be conducted on 12 Aug, 18 Aug, 26 Aug, 9 Sep, & 16 September. Through this exam, RRB will fill 62,907 vacancies for RRB Group D i.e., Gateman/Pointsman/Porter/Helper & few other posts in Railway department across all regions. The admit card for Railway Group D 2018 recruitment examination will be available from 2nd August 2018.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) Recruitment 2018 Notification Awaited:

RRB Railway Recruitment notification for 9,500 vacancies for RPF post in Indian Railways is expected to be released soon. Railway Recruitment Board soon release Notification for 50,000 Assistant Station Master Vacancies:

Railway Recruitment Board Shortly RRB will be recruiting for 50,000 vacancies to fill the posts of Assistant Station Master (ASM) in its various zones. Though the RRB Official Notification regarding this ASM recruitment is not released yet, but will be released anytime soon. The tentative Date for starting online application form registration is 4th April 2018. The tentative Last Date of RRB ASM 2018 Online Application Form submission is 6th May 2018. RRB recruitment 2018, 1898 Apprentice Vacancy:

East Central Railways released  the recruitment notification for 1898 apprentice positions across Patna, Samastipur, Dhanbad, Chandaul. Those interested in applying can send the fully-filled form by February 28 (5 pm) on the official website rrcecr.gov.in. For the registration, Aadhaar card is mandatory.

Candidate's age limit should be between 15 to 24 years. There is age relaxation for reserved category.

Educational qualification 
The candidate should have passed Matric or class 10 examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50 per cent marks from a recognised board and ITI in relevant trade (i.eNational Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by National Council for Vocational Training or Provisional Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training/State Council for Vocational Training).

Railway Exam Overview

Indian Railways owned and operated by Govt. of India through Ministry of Railways is the fourth largest railway network in the world. The staffs of Indian Railways are recruited under two categories i.e. gazetted (Group A and B) and non-gazetted (Group C and D) employees. Railway Recruitment Board does recruitment of Group B, C, and D through 21 Railway Recruitment Boards across India. Few posts of Group B are done through direct promotion from Group C. Railway Recruitment of Various Posts

Group A

Group A Officer positions are filled in by UPSC Exams. UPSC Civil Services and Combined Engineering Services are conducted for the recruitment in posts of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), Indian Railways Accounts Service (IRAS), Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Indian Railway Services of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), and Indian Railway Store Service (IRSS).

Group B

The posts of Group B are filled in by direct promotion from Group C. For some posts, the Exams are conducted by Railway Recruitment Board.

Group C and D

The recruitment for Group C and D is done via RRB under 21 Railway Recruitment Boards under the supervision of Railway Recruitment Control Board. The posts are divided into technical cadre and non-technical cadre. Recruitment is done on All India basis and the competition is not restricted to one particular zone and only the eligibility of the candidate is necessary for taking up the Exam under any zone. Since recruitment in done on larger scale, it is done under 21 RRBs.
  • Posts for which recruitment is done Group C are RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Category), RRB Technical Cadre and RPF Sub-Inspectors/Constables.
  • The recruitment of Trackman, Porter, Helper-II (Mech), Helper-II (S&T), Gr.D Engg., Helper-II (Elect), Gr. D (Store) are done through Group D recruitment.
Thus the focus of Railway Recruitment Board will be solely on Group C and D through Competitive Exams followed by Interview process and other necessary recruitment processes.

Railway Group C NTPC Exam:

Railway Recruitment Board conducts Group C Exams for recruitment of various posts in Indian Railways. The Opening/vacancy details are given zonal wise and recruitment is done on Zonal basis. Vacancies are made based on the requirement in each zone. The posts of Group C are

Railway Group C NTPC Current Recruitment

Indian Railways has released a large number of vacancies for the Group C NTPC cadre and the recruitment process is on the go. The vacancies were given based on zone/region and the exam was also conducted for different posts under the respective regions specified/opted by the candidate. The 1st Stage Exam (CBT) was conducted from March to May 2016. The 2nd Stage CBT was conducted in the month of January 2017. Following which Typing Skill Test and Aptitude Test were conducted on June 29, 2017, and June 30, 2017, respectively. Based on the results published, the document verification for the shortlisted candidates has started from August 28, 2017.

Railway Assistant Loco Pilot Exam:

Apart from NTPC in Group C, the Assistant Loco Pilot posts also come under Group C and the recruitment for this post is done separately. The post of Assistant Loco Pilot has a huge responsibility of transporting millions of passengers and tons of freight every day. Thus, recruitment for this post will have tests to check the required skill set and to recruit highly efficient candidates. Few required skill set are given below

Railway Group C Technical Post Exam:

The skill set required for Technical Post will be different from other Group C posts. Also, the recruitment process will also be different to acquire the suitable skill set required. Check below for the details on Technical post.
Educational Qualification

Basic qualification would be on engineering standards on Civil, Technical, and Mechanical engineering and also other similar disciplines with respect to the post.

Age limit

Age group between 18 years and 27 years

Exam Syllabus and Pattern
The Exam syllabus for Technical cadre will be in line with educational standards and the post applied for. The Written Exam will be done based on following divisions.

  • General English
  • General Arithmetic
  • Analytical and Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Knowledge
  • Questions based on educational/technical qualification related to the post.
Based on the number of candidates applied for the Exam, the exam will be conducted in single or double stage. The Exam will be of 90 minutes duration with 100 questions to be answered. Following the Written Exam, based on the requirement of posts, verbal/skill test and psychological tests are conducted. Document verification is done for candidates clearing the above stage of the test process and candidates shortlisted in document verification have to undergo medical test before being allotted for the respective posts.

Railway Group C RPF Sub-Inspector/Constables Exam:

The posts in RPF Sub-Inspector/Constables of Group C will basically have two divisions i.e. Executive Branch and Fire Service Branch. The Exam Pattern and selection procedure will be different for Sub-inspector and Constables.
Educational Qualification
Executive Branch: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from recognized University.
Fire Service Branch: Should have passed Intermediate/Higher Secondary (10+2) with Science and Sub. Officers Course or equivalent Diploma in Science or Fire Fighting
Age
Sub-Inspectors: Between 20 to 25 years
Constables: Between 18 to 25 years

Exam Syllabus and Pattern

Sub-Inspectors in Executive and Fire Service: The selection for these posts will be a three-stage process where physical fitness as the main key. The three stages are
  • Physical Fitness
  • Preliminary Efficiency Test
  • Written Test
Only candidates with specified physical fitness i.e. height, weight, etc will be selected to take up the Preliminary efficiency test. Candidates qualifying the 2nd stage will take up the written test. The syllabus for written test is given below.
  • General Knowledge: 100 marks (1 hour); Objective type questions on past/current affairs, History, Geography, Hindi, Mathematics, and Science
  • General English: 50 marks (1 hour); Questions on Grammar, Precise Writing, Correction of Sentences, Annotation of selected Paragraphs/Poems and more.
  • Essay Writing: 50 marks (1 hour); Essay on English/Hindi in 300 words.
Constables: The selection for constables will also follow a three-stage process and also physical fitness as the main key. The three-stage process is
  • Physical Efficiency Test
  • Written Test
  • Viva Voice/Interview

Candidates clearing the physical fitness will be called in for Written test and candidates clearing Written test will be called in for Interview. Final selection is made upon candidate being medically fit after the medical examination is done.

Railway Group D Exam:

The recruitment of Group D posts in Railways is done for around seven posts i.e. 

  • Trackman
  • Porter
  • Helper-II (Mech)
  • Helper-II (S&T)
  • Gr.D Engg.
  • Helper-II (Elect)
  • Gr. D (Store)
