IBPS SO 2020: Institute of Banking Personnel has officially invited candidates to apply for the post of Specialist Officers (SO) and to be noted that around 1163 vacancies are to be filled for SO Post. IBPS SO 2020 application process started on 6th November 2019 onwards. Eligible candidates can apply directly from the link available on the official website @ bps.in. IBPS will hire candidates to fill 1163 vacancies under the SO in various public sector banks and other participating organizations. The post includes IT Officer (Scale-I), Agricultural Field Officer (Scale-I), Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I), Law Officer (Scale-I), HR/Personnel Officer (Scale-I) and Marketing Officer (Scale-I). Recently, IBPS has released the notification for the post of Specialist Officer (CRP SPL-IX). A total of 1145 vacancies are available for I.T. Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, H.R./Personnel Officer, and Marketing Officer in various banks. IBPS SO exam will be online through Common Recruitment Process (CRP SPL-IX). Interested candidates can apply for IBPS SO Posts from 6th November to 26th November 2019.

IBPS SO Exam will be held in two parts. 1) Prelims Exam and 2) Mains Exam. The IBPS SO Prelims Exam will happen on 28th and 29th December 2019, and the mains exam will occur on 25th January 2020. Steps to fill the IBPS SO Application Form 2019: 

Before filling the IBPS SO Application Form 2019, applicants must ensure that they are eligible to fill in the IBPS SO Application Form 2019 and appear for the IIFT MBA Exam. Candidates are advised to go through the guidelines before filling IBPS SO Application Form 2019.

On 6th November 2018, IBPS has released the IBPS SO Application Form 2018 on its official website - ibps.in. This year, IBPS is going to conduct IBPS SO exam for the eighth time for filling 1,599 vacancies under the SO (Specialist Officer) scale 1 posts of IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR/ Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, across India on behalf of 20+ Nationalized Banks. IBPS SO 2018 recruitment process involves three main stages - preliminary examination and main examination followed by interview. IBPS SO online examination is tentatively scheduled to be held on 29th and 30th December 2018 (Prelims exam) and 27th January 2019 (Mains exam). Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts Common Recruitment Process (CRP), All - India Level online examination for selecting personnel in Specialist Officers (SO) cadre posts in various Nationalized banks in India, every year. Interviews are conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT. How to fill IBPS SO Application Form 2018?

In order to grasp Bank SO job, Candidate have to apply for IBPS CWE SO-VII through online mode only, after declaration of IBPS SO Official notification. Application Fees/ Intimation Charges Payable for IBPS SO recruitment are:

  • Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
  • Rs. 600 /- for all others

Application  fees/ intimation charges can be paid through ONLINE mode only. During Online Application Submission of IBPS SO Exam, you have to upload the scanned copy of following particulars:

  • Your Passport Size Photo - It should be in .jpg format between 200 x 230 pixels in Dimensions and  20kb - 50 kb in size
  • Your Signature - It should be in .jpg format between 140 x 60 pixels in Dimensions and 10kb - 20kb in size.

IT Officer Job Profile:

IT officers are responsible for the management of various systems like ATM,  Cash Deposit Kiosks, Mobile Banking, and Internet Banking, Networking, etc. They are also in charge of developing new software and even modifying the Bank’s existing software.

Agriculture Field Officer Job Profile:

Agricultural Field Officers are responsible for promoting bank's loan products in rural areas, particularly among farmers. They have to conduct pre-loan sanction inspection and follow up for recovery of loans.

Rajbhasha Adhikari Job Profile:

Rajbhasha Adhikari is responsible for translation-related works, like translating official documents from English to Rajbhasha or national language (Hindi) and other such activities. They are supposed to well verse in Hindi and Sanskrit.

Law Officer Job Profile:

Law Officers are responsible for the overall legal perspectives of the Bank they are working in, checking the sanctions imposed by the bank and making sure that all the relevant documents are properly executed.

HR Officer Job Profile:

HR Officers are responsible for the overall Human Resource of their respective Bank, training, and induction of the new employees that join their bank. They have to maintain the salary accounts, leave schedules and other appraisal-related forms. They are also responsible for managing the industrial relations, performance, and promotion Policy.

Marketing Officer Job Profile:

What's New in this Year IBPS SO Exam?

From this year onwards, IBPS decided to hold two-tier examination namely Preliminary and Main examinations followed by INTERVIEW for recruitment of all six posts of Specialist Officers (SO). The marks obtained in the Preliminary examination will not be considered for preparing the final merit list. IBPS SO Prelims exam marks will be only qualifying nature for shortlisting candidates to Mains Examination. The marks obtained in the Main Examination will only be considered for shortlisting for interview. Previously, there was a single written examination followed by an Interview for IBPS SO selection.


This year, IBPS will conduct online Common Written Examination (CWE) for the posts of Specialist Officers (SO) in three phases as:
1. IBPS SO Preliminary Exam
2. IBPS SO Mains Exam
3. Interview

On January 2018, IBPS released tentative dates for CWE SPL-VIII which are:

  • IBPS SO Exam Dates for Preliminary - 29th and 30th December 2018
  • IBPS SO Main Examination Date - 27th January 2019
  • IBPS SO Interview Date - February 2019

Candidates who qualified in IBPS SO Main Examination, will be called for the final stage of IBPS SO recruitment, ie., IBPS SO Interview.

IBPS SO Exam Structure 2018:

As said earlier, IBPS conducts CWE SPL-VII in two phases namely, IBPS SO Preliminary Examination and IBPS SO Mains Examination. After that Interview will be held for candidates who qualified in IBPS SO Mains Exam. The IBPS SO Prelims and Mains Exam will be conducted in online mode only. IBPS SO Prelims exam will comprise multiple-choice questions under 3 main sections namely English Language, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude (OR) General Awareness. IBPS SO Mains Exam will consist of questions only from Professional Knowledge. Final merit listing of IBPS SO vacancies is based on IBPS SO Mains examination marks + Interview Marks. The weightage (ratio) of IBPS SO Main exam and interview for final merit list = 80 : 20 respectively.
