IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Overview

IBPS RRB, every year, does a large scale recruitment of filling candidates for four of its major posts/cadre across the nation. IBPS RRB follows the pattern of Common Written Examination (CWE) and Common Interview for the recruitment process. CWE for all post is conducted Online and Common interview is conducted only for posts of Officers-Scale I, II, and III. The process in turn differs for each post in order to check on the necessary skill set required. A small brief on Exam pattern for each post is given in the table below.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Office Assistants

The candidates applying for the post of IBPS RRB Office Assistants post are expected to be good in numerical ability. A section focusing on numerical questions is framed to analyze the numerical ability of the candidates. The Online exam for Office Assistants is conducted in two phases i.e., Prelims and Mains, following which Final Merit list is prepared based on the score secured in Main Exam.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Office Assistants (Prelims)

IBPS RRB Office Assistants (Prelims) is the first level of screening process. It has two sections i.e., Reasoning and Numerical ability with an overall mark of 80 and time duration of 45 minutes. There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answers marked by the candidate. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question. Find below the pattern and time duration of the Prelims Exam.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Office Assistants Main Exam is the second level of screening process for candidates who cleared Prelims. It has five sections i.e., Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge with an overall score of 200. The time duration for the Exam is 2 hours. IBPS Exam Pattern - Officer Scale I follows the pattern of Online Exam (Prelims and Mains) and Common Interview. The Numerical section is replaced with Quantitative Aptitude for Officer Scale I. *Candidates applying for Officer Scale I are expected to have proficiency in local language.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Officer Scale I (Interview)

Candidates who have been shortlisted in the Main Exam for the post of Officers-Scale I will be called for an Interview. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks/scores in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The relative weightage (ratio) of CWE and interview will be 80:20. The combined final score shall be arrived based on the score obtained in the Online Main Exam and Interview. A candidate should score sufficiently high score in both CWE and Interview to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Single Level Examination

The Single Level Examination is conducted for recruiting posts of Officers Scale II (General Banking Officer and Specialist Cadre) and Officers Scale III. In turn, in the Single Level Exam, each post will have a different structure being followed based on the necessary skill set. IBPS RRB Exam Pattern - Officers Scale II (General Banking Officer)

The Single Level Exam (Online) for IBPS RRB Officers-Scale II General Banking Officer has five sections i.e., Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge with an overall score of 200. The time duration for the Exam is 2 hours. There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer marked by the candidate. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question. *An experience of two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution is required.

The posts under IBPS RRB Officers-Scale II (Specialist Cadre) are Information Technology Officer, Chartered Accountant, Law Officer, Treasury Manager, Marketing Officer, and Agricultural Officer with specified experience in their respective field. In order to check the professional knowledge of the candidates in their respective field, there will be an additional section i.e., Professional Knowledge with a mark weightage of 40.   • Candidates can opt for English or Hindi as medium for taking up Online test.
  • Candidates should score sufficiently high Total in order of merit to be called for interviews/ provisional allotment.
  • Decision of IBPS in short-listing candidates for Common Interview and provisional allotment shall be Final.
    • IBPS RRB selection of candidates is purely based on Merit listing of the marks obtained. The score obtained by each candidate will be normalized using equi-percentile method. Depending on the marks obtained, shortlisted candidates will be allotted to any one of Regional Rural Bank on merit cum preference.
