IBPS RRB Exam Date 2018

IBPS RRB is conducted in the second half of every year. IBPS RRB Exam follows a Pattern of Online Exam (Common Written Exam) and Common Interview. IBPS RRB has increasing vacancies due to the arising banking needs in rural and semi-urban areas. IBPS RRB exam is conducted every year which focus on filling the job positions arising in RRB's due to the expansions happening in rural banking sector. For this year, IBPS has tentatively released the Examination dates for posts of RRB-VI (Office Assistants - Multipurpose) and RRB-VI (Officers-Scale I, II, and III).

What are the Guidelines to Apply for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I, II, III & Office Assistant Exam?

Candidates applying for IBPS RRB are requested to read through the entire notification furnished by IBPS. Use IBPS RRB link to check on the detailed notification.
Candidates can Apply for the exam once the application is released by IBPS. Find below few basic guidelines to apply:

  • A candidate can apply for the Post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and can also apply for the Post of Officer (a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for Officer Scale-I or Scale-II or Scale-III).

  • Candidates have to apply separately for each post and fees/intimation charges are also to be made separately.

  • Candidates should scan their photograph and signature (The size of the images should adhere to the specifications given in the notification)

  • Candidate should have a valid e-mail ID.

  • Candidates are advised to carefully fill the necessary details as there will not be any changes made after submission of the application.

  • Payment is only made through Online mode.

  • Candidates are expected to regularly check their mail for updates from IBPS, as all intimations will be made to the registered mail ID.

Application fees for General Category is Rs. 600/- for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I, II, and III.  A fee of Rs.100/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Age

  • Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Between 18 years and 28 years

  • Officer-Scale I: Above 18 years - Below 30 years

  • Officer-Scale II: Above 21 years - Below 32 years

  • Officer-Scale III: Above 21 years - Below 40 years

Age relaxation is applicable based on the categories specified by IBPS.

Educational Qualification

A degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent is the basic criteria. Further specific educational qualification and experience is required for each post/cadre. Candidates applying for the post of Office Assistants and Officers-Scale I should have proficiency in local language. Other than Educational Qualification relevant experience is also needed for specific posts. Check on IBPS RRB Notification for details on other qualifications.

Admit Card

IBPS releases Admit Card 15 days prior to the Online Exam. IBPS RRB Admit Card is released only for candidates whose application is considered eligible by IBPS. IBPS RRB Admit Card holds the information related to the candidate and examination. Separate Admit Card is released for each post and also for each level of examination. An Admit Card/Call Letter stands as identification for the candidates who are eligible to take up the online exam. Candidates can download their Admit Card and are expected to carry a hard copy when appearing for the Online Exam.

Syllabus

Based on the different set of Common Written Exam, the syllabus for the exam is also different for each post/cadre. The difference in syllabus is because of the varying level of skill set required for each job position. IBPS RRB focuses mainly on testing the logical and reasoning ability of the candidates. IBPS RRB Exam Syllabus helps the candidates to focus on areas of preparation. Major focus and weightage will be given for quantitative aptitude, numerical ability and reasoning, followed by General Awareness, Language and Computer Awareness. There will be a separate section i.e., Professional Knowledge for post of Officer Scale II (Specialist Cadre).

The topics mentioned above carry major weightage and are easy to crack when practiced well.
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Sentence Rearrangement, and Para jumbles are topics to focus in English Language.
IBPS RRB topics on computer paper focus on The Internet (concept, history, working environment, application), Database Management System (DBMS), Networking (LAN, WAN), etc.

Result and Cutoff

IBPS declares the results of CWE for each stage of Exam i.e. Prelims, Mains, and Single Level on completion of the Exam in the respective stage. IBPS RRB Exam Results are published for all the candidates who appear for the exam. Candidates who appeared for the Exams can check their final score and cutoff mark once the IBPS RRB Exam Results are published. Candidates need to score a qualifying mark to be selected for the subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

IBPS RRB results are published on Cutoff basis. IBPS RRB Cutoff Score decides upon the eligible candidates for next level of the recruitment process. Candidates are required to obtain a minimum cutoff (sectional and overall) in each Online test to be considered qualified on that stage of Examination. Cutoff score is decided by IBPS and changes based on the region and category.

Common Interview Process

  • Candidates shortlisted in the Main Exam for the post of Officers-Scale I and Single Level Exam for the post of Officers Scale II and III will be called for an Interview.

  • The total marks allotted for Interview are 100.

  • The minimum qualifying marks/scores in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

  • The relative weightage (ratio) of CWE and interview will be 80:20.

  • The combined final score shall be arrived based on the score obtained in the Online Main/Single Level Exam and Interview. 

  • A candidate should score sufficiently high score in both CWE and Interview to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.

Final Merit Listing

IBPS RRB selection of candidates is purely based on Merit listing of the marks obtained. The score obtained by each candidate will be normalized using equi-percentile method. Depending on the marks obtained, shortlisted candidates will be allotted to any one of Regional Rural Bank on merit cum preference. Office Assistants (Multipurpose) – Marks obtained in the Main Exam (Online) will only be considered for preparing the Final merit list.
Officers Scale I – Marks obtained in the Main Exam (Online) will be considered for shortlisting to the Common Interview, and also for preparing the Final merit list. Score in Common Interview is also important.
Officers Scale II and III – Marks obtained in the Single Level Exam (Online) will be considered for shortlisting to the Common Interview, and also for preparing the Final merit list. Score in Common Interview is also important.
