GATE Syllabus 2019 Overview:

GATE 2019 exam for all 24 papers is going to be conducted by IIT Guwahati on February 02, 03, 09 and 10 2019. Candidates can apply and appear for only one of the 24 papers appropriate to the discipline of their qualifying degree. Each Paper comprises questions from 2 main sections namely, (i) General Aptitude and (ii) Technical (along with Engineering Mathematics for certain papers).
 
General Aptitude (GA) is a mandatory section and common for all the GATE papers. Grab detailed syllabus of General Aptitude (GA) section from this article. In the above table, Engineering Sciences (XE) and Life Sciences (XL) papers are of general nature and will comprise of Sections mentioned above. Candidate those who appearing in the XE paper has to answer Engineering Mathematics Section (which is compulsory) and any two of remaining XE sections B to H. Candidate those who appearing in the XL paper has to answer Chemistry Section (section P - which is compulsory) and any two of remaining XL sections Q to U.

How to Apply for GATE 2019 Exam?

You must first register (in the link given below) by providing a valid email address, mobile number and a GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) password. All communications from the GATE Offices will be sent to this email address (ONLY ONE PERSON CAN REGISTER WITH ONE e-mail ADDRESS). Upon registration, an email containing the GOAPS Enrolment ID will be sent to you. Then, you can apply for the GATE Exam through online mode only, using that GOAPS Enrolment ID and GOAPS Password. Fill all essential details in GATE Application Form and proceed to pay the fees. 

GATE 2019 Exam Pattern Overview:

ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) is conducted for all 24 papers in GATE Examination. GATE examination comprises of a single paper of 65 questions carrying 100 marks in total. Total time duration for the entire GATE exam is 3 hrs (90 mins). Get the detailed GATE Exam pattern for all branches now.

Types of Questions asked in GATE 2019:

The online examination of each GATE paper will contain two types of questions:-
1) Numerical Answer Type Questions:- There are some Numerical Answer type questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad.
2) Rest of the questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. For these type of questions, you have to choose the answer from the given choices.

Negative Marking in GATE 2019 Exam:

For 1-mark Multiple-Choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. Similarly,  for 2-mark Multiple-Choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. There is NO negative marking for numerical answer type questions.

Result of GATE 2019 Exam:

GATE result for 2019 will be announced on or before March 30, 2019. GATE score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.
